About Kid Central

Kid Central is a small private childcare center providing preschool, daycare and before, after school care and summer day camp. Our goal is to be the best place in the Conifer, Morrison and Bailey area for your children when they have to be away from home and family. Kid Central is a safe place to play, learn, make friends, have fun and grow in all phases of development.

Our maximum capacity is 30 children, ages 3-11, at Turkey Creek Kid Central and 25 children, ages 5-11, at Conifer Kid Central. We keep a low teacher:child ratio as we believe this strongly benefits the children educationally and developmentally.

Richard Louv, author of ‘Last Child in The Woods, Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder’, shares in his book the connection between child development and nature. He provides documented evidence that shows the lower the child’s connection with nature the higher the incidence of ADD, depression and obesity. He says, “environment-based education dramatically improves standardized test scores and grade point averages and develops skills in problem solving, critical thinking and decision making. Even creativity is stimulated by childhood experiences in nature.”

At Kid Central we spend lots of time outside and see proof of Richard Louv’s findings every day. We spend a lot of time in our playgrounds and in our local parks and open spaces. We see leadership skills, inventions of games and activities and children working together. We do not see children fighting, being left out, being board or even doing the same things twice.

In both the Conifer and Turkey Creek centers we provide a variety of areas to allow children to explore their individual strengths and curiosities. Each Kid Central has a science center, arts and crafts center, building and imagination areas and of course a reading and resources area.

We offer healthy whole grain and fresh fruits at snack time. We talk about nutrition at snack and meal time and encourage the children to make healthy choices. Of course we can’t eat perfectly healthy all the time, so on Fun Fridays we have ice cream for afternoon snack.

We also talk about recycling and being green, so don’t be surprised to hear about these things when they come home from Kid Central.

Hi, sounds wonderful. You sound like you really make an effort to stimulate children's minds and research child education. This is so important and makes a huge difference later down the road.

Fantastic Philosophy.

DECEMBER DISCOUNT:
$95 Preschool Registration Fee WAIVED for new December Preschool Registations!!

Preschool: Ages 3-5

Our preschool curriculum focuses on kindergarten preparedness requirements for Jefferson County as well as the many faceted world around us. Our preschool is at the Turkey Creek Kid Central which is located next to Turkey Creek Park. So in addition to our playgrounds, we have acres of open space in which to explore, have picnics, wade in the creek, sled down the hills or just sit and enjoy our beautiful outdoors.

Your preschooler will learn early reading and math concepts, social skill as well as discovering all about the birds, rocks, trees, wild flowers and other wildlife that live in the mountains we so highly treasure. We keep the day flexible enough so a child’s curiosity and wonder can be explored and possibly add a new dimension to the day.

The goal of our curriculum is to meet all children where they are developmentally and to assist them in continuing to develop to their full potential. Children develop in a similar manner but on a timetable that is unique to each child. At any given time in the classroom the children are at a variety of ability levels developmentally. This is one reason we will keep our preschool classes to 7 or 8 children.

Our curriculum strives to meet the individual needs and assist the development of all children intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We utilize what is called whole child instruction. This means that we support the concept that young children are developing in several areas or domains simultaneously and that each of these areas of development are equally important to the child. Not only are they equally important, they are also interwoven. It has been said that the social/emotional well being of the child fuels the intellect. At the same time, without intellectual capabilities, the child’s social/emotional development would suffer. The latest research indicates that these two developmental areas, intellectual and social/emotional actually develop hand in hand.

Before and After School: Ages 5-11

After school is a time for unstructured play, sports or just taking it easy. But in addition to these things we also provide art and science projects, caring for our pets, learning sign language, homework time with individual help and the opportunity to participate in various lessons. At Kid Central we offer guitar, piano and Spanish lessons. We will also provide your child a healthy snack and walk them to Peak Academy of Dance or Colorado Taekwondo Institute in Conifer for afternoon lessons.

We are open on shortened days and days when there is no school including snow days. On these special days we always plan fun activities or field trips. On snow days be sure to bring your outdoor clothes because we will be playing in the snow.

Summer Camp: Ages 3-11

In Summer Day Camp we play, learn, explore and make good friends. We go to swim lessons and water parks, we hike and do volunteer work and go on many field trips as far away as Fairplay. We develop hobbies, play sports, learn lots of new crafts and are definitely worn out at the end of the day.

Hi,

Thanks for the great information.
You guys really seem to put alot of thought into the best new ways in childcare.

I have a question,
how do the children get to your building from school?
