I started yoga when I was 14 as an experiment to see if it could relieve my chronic nerve pain in my foot. Despite it being held at Children's Hospital, I was never told if I did the positions correctly and breathing was never really mentioned as anything important with the pose. Needless to say my pain never lessened, and I left thinking yoga was a big joke. After taking Sophia's class, I learned that yoga is anything but a joke. The breath is just as important as the pose and helps the flow from one position to the next. I found that with the breathing incorporated with the pose alleviated my pain considerably, whereas by the end of class I usually would be limping from pain. The breathing meditations have also helped my anxiety problems considerably. It's so empowering knowing you don't always need a pill to fix your problems!

Partner Yoga is a visionary practice that expands the traditionally individual science of Yoga into the realm of relationship. In traditional Hatha Yoga practice, a person places his or her body into specific postures, while focusing on breath and body alignment. Designed for two or more people, Partner Yoga positions utilize the forms and principles of individual postures while incorporating the presence of another to deepen the impact of the pose.
In Principle-Based Partner Yoga™, there is no giver or receiver in a posture thus all partners are fully engaged in their own experience. Themes such as trust, compassion and other universal principles are woven into the practice inspiring our human potential for intimacy and connection with others.
Principle-Based Partner Yoga™ is a healing art that teaches the fundamental value of joining and sharing with others. It demonstrates how we become more authentic and empowered through our willingness to open and connect with others - and the world around us.
