I shared this with my son and told him "You're welcome" for having the parents you have (because he has the same sarcastic sense of humor DH and I do). :P

Is there anything you'd add to this list? I was wondering if anyone has looked at what effect traveling and exposing kids to other cultures has on their success, that would be interesting to find out.

...while there isn't a set recipe for raising successful children, psychology research has pointed to a handful of factors that predict success.

Unsurprisingly, much of it comes down to the parents.

  1. They make their kids do chores.
  2. They teach their kids social skills.
  3. They have high expectations.
  4. They have healthy relationships with each other.
  5. They've attained higher educational levels.
  6. They teach their kids math early on.
  7. They develop a relationship with their kids.
  8. They're less stressed.
  9. They value effort over avoiding failure.
  10. The moms work.
  11. They have a higher socioeconomic status.
  12. They are "authoritative" rather than "authoritarian" or "permissive."
  13. They teach "grit."

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
