About Colorado Railroad Museum
"There's something amazing about trains. The familiar whistle has always promised adventure. The gentle rock of the rails has set the rhythm of our lives. Experience it again at the Colorado Railroad Museum with over 100 narrow and standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses HO Model Railroad and G-scale garden railway on our 15-acre railyard.

Also, see our exhibit galleries, renowned library, Roundhouse restoration facility and working turntable. Visit the Depot General Store with thousands of train gifts for every rail fan. Group rates and programs are available."

Catch a ride behind one of the Museum’s historic “Galloping Goose” Motorcars.

Admission: Free
Ride Tickets: Adults $4 (16+), Children $2 (2-15, under two is free). Museum members receive $1 discount per ticket.

Ride the Rails Saturday
Catch a ride behind one of the Museum’s steam or diesel locomotives in passenger cars from different eras in Colorado railroad history or on one of the unique Rio Grande Southern “Galloping Goose” Motorcars. Rides operate 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

Admission: Museum Members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $10, and Seniors $8.

Ride Tickets: Adults (16+) $4, Children (2-15) $2. Museum members receive $1 discount per ticket.

Tickets are available for purchase at the door, no reservations required.

To celebrate our partnership with the City of Boulder the Museum is proud to offer free general admission and rides behind a historic steam locomotive to all Boulder County residents select Fridays throughout the year:

Catch a ride behind one of the Museum’s historic steam locomotives in vintage passenger cars.

Admission: Boulder County Residents, Museum Members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $10, and Seniors $8.

Steampunk at the Station

Our steam engines create the perfect backdrop for the popular genre of “science fiction meets the 19th century Industrial Age” found in music, clothing, art & lifestyle. With a nod to Steampunk icon, Tesla, we invite guests to arrive in their finest Steampunk attire and/or with their Steampunk gadget to enjoy a day full of entertainment, train rides, craft beer, vendors & more.

- Enjoy buskers, entertainers, and educators throughout the site as well as local artists and merchants.
- Pose for professional photography and personalized steampunk portraits in front of over 100 historical artifacts.
- Enjoy a craft brew in our beer garden for the 21+ crowd and a number of food truck options for lunch.
- Watch the Denver HO Model RR and Denver Garden Railway Society operate throughout the day.

Steampunk Tea Party: Premium Ticketed Activity
Join Lady Elizabeth for a most delightful cream tea on board our UP Diner #4801 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. A delicious repast of biscuits, marmalades and Devonshire cream set amongst beautiful Steampunk embellishments will not only inspire conversation but spark the imagination. Tea Dueling by the Denver Victorian Steampunk Society will transpire and characters both unique and sublime will entertain at this ticketed event. Your VIP Premium Tea Party ticket includes Special Event admission to Steampunk at the Station including unlimited train rides.

Special Event Admission: Museum members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $15 and Seniors $10. Admission includes unlimited rides on our Steam Engine as well as entertainment throughout the grounds. We will be open to the public from 9AM-5PM with entertainment and events running 10AM-4PM.

Premium Tea Party ticket reservations must be received by end-of-business Monday May 7, 2018. Please note: Absolutely NO weapons permitted on Museum property. Violators will be asked to leave. The Colorado Railroad Museum is not liable for lost or damaged gadgets brought to our site.

Ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Western Steam Locomotive and follow the dinosaur tracks around the Museum’s 15-acre railyard and enjoy dinosaur themed activities.

Day Out With Thomas
Thomas the Tank Engine™ will chug into the Colorado Railroad Museum summer 2018.

All Thomas fans are invited to come spend the day with their favorite No. 1 engine. For 65 years, children have been captivated by the courageous adventures of Thomas and his engine friends.

A Day Out With Thomas is an exciting way for children and grown-ups to enter the world of Thomas & Friends™. The event provides an opportunity for kids to ride on board a train led by Thomas and have their pictures taken with Sir Topham Hatt, the controller of Thomas’ railway.

Admission includes access to Museum exhibits and model trains, and special Day Out With Thomas activities, including a petting zoo, temporary tattoos, Imagination Station (train table play area), sing-a-longs, bean bag toss, hula hoops, bubbles, ladder golf & a magic show!

Trick or Treat Train
It’s full steam ahead for tricks, treats and trains at the Colorado Railroad Museum!

The Railroad Halloween Town is a safe place to enjoy Trick or Treating. Catch a ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Steam Locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume.

Visit all of the special stops to fill your treat bags and tickle your funny bones including the “not so spooky” Haunted Railcar and the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard. Enjoy local food, kettle corn, shaved ice and even get your face painted. Finally, get a great picture of your costume as you pose in front of our Pumpkin Patch cart. Get professional fall portraits by Mama Chicken Photography.

Admission: Museum members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $15 and Seniors $10. Admission includes unlimited rides on our Steam Engine as well as entertainment throughout the grounds. We will be open to the public from 9AM-5PM with entertainment and events running 10AM-4PM both Saturday & Sunday.
