As we head on into June we are starting our annual Summer Reading Challenge! There are prizes available for all age groups. Register online to track your minutes- help us reach our goal of 40,000,000 minutes read and we'll donate $500 to Foothills Animal Shelter! Any reading counts: books, ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, etc.

In between reading, here's what we've got coming up this month at the Conifer Public Library:

Every Saturday in June - Family Time, 10:45 am - Everyone is invited for stories, singing, rhyming and dancing.

6/1- Summer Reading Kick-Off, 3:00 pm - Kick off Summer Reading with games, face painting from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m., and yummy root beer floats, while supplies last!
Registration not required.

6/2 – Make Something: Wind Chimes, 1:00 pm - Find a new outlet for your creativity and make something at the library! Each session features a different craft and all materials provided. Limit 20.
Come make a hanging wind chime!

6/3 – Ann Lincoln’s Boogie Woogie Bunnies, 2:00 pm - Ann's magic animals are having a dance party and you're invited!

6/5 - The Art House, 6:00 pm - Paint the town any color you'd like with Evergreen artist Chris McAllister. He'll help you discover how to better use the visual vocabulary of shape, value, color, line, texture and edges. Explore these concepts in still life, landscape, portrait and figure paintings. Not an artist? No worries. All skill levels are welcome to learn. Bring in a project you're already working on or join a group project. Work in oil or acrylic paints, just bring your own painting supplies. Our ongoing classes are designed for continuous learning in an open, individualized environment. New students are welcome any time.

6/6- Conifer Meditation Group, 6:30 pm - Guide your mind to a place of peace, happiness, and bliss. The Conifer/Bailey/Evergreen area meditation group is open to anyone interested in meditating regularly in a group setting. No previous meditation experience is required. We don't focus on a particular meditation format, but instead sample a variety of methods as different group members lead a 20-30 minute group meditation at each gathering. Please bring a cushion, mat or pillow if you don't care to sit on a chair. Anyone present can start the session and awaken the group at the end.
Held on the first and third Wednesday of the month.

6/9 – Let’s Dance, 11:30 am - Let's dance! Shake those wiggles out and have some fun building little brains! All families are welcome.

6/9 – Rock’n Summer Tie Dye Fest, 1:00 pm - We're rock'n summer reading! Bring your own t-shirts, scarves, pillowcases or whatever. We have all you need to make a cool tie dye. This can get messy so wear grubby clothes.

6/10 - LEGO® Play & Build, 1:00 pm - Calling all LEGO® fans! Builders of all ages are welcome to build your own creation. What story will you tell? We provide the LEGO® bricks and LEGO DUPLO® for younger kiddos.

6/12 – Fossil Fun, 6:30 pm - Potentially messy, definitely fun! Have fun learning about fossils, how they are formed, and making one in the library laboratory.

6/14 – Beginning Ukulele, 6:00 pm - Grab your ukulele or borrow one of ours and come "rawk" your way into loving how versatile the ukulele can be in making music. You'll play melodically, you'll harmonize, you might be swept away and start singing and dancing too.

6/17 – Morris Dancers, 12:30 pm - Watch the Morris Dancers and be thrilled! Morris dancing dates back at least five hundred years in England. Its origins are unknown, but may be related to seasonal observances intended to wake up the Earth in spring, ensure good crops and animals, and Strong Ale.
Performing in and around the Mile High City, the Maroon Bells Morris Dancers have been performing at Colorado festivals and fairs for 34 years and have even been seen on the Tonight Show starring Jay Leno.
