wxgeeks weather-Shifting Monsoon Pattern

Very strong upper level High currently sitting over western KS has shifted the monsoon moisture into UT and western CO. Only very isolated thunderstorms east of the Divide in CO. Our close proximity to the upper High has also caused temps to rise today, and this pattern should persist into Tue/Wed. Models suggest the upper High will weaken and move east into the mid Mississippi Valley towards the end of the week. This will allow temps to lower slightly and we will come under the influence of a more westerly flow aloft from an upper trough along the west coast. This means we will also have better chances for afternoon/evening storms from Wednesday through Friday, but they would be relatively fast moving and we will not be as moist as last week, so less rain overall.

Long range models then re-build the upper High over the Inter-Mountain West by next weekend and into the following week. If this verifies, CO would be on the east side of the High, which would cut off our monsoon flow and we would be hot and mostly dry, with only some isolated afternoon and evening storms.

So, in general, looks like we will be taking a little break from our very moist monsoon flow over the next 7-10 days, with warmer temps and only isolated afternoon and evening storms.
