After record heat on Saturday, a dry cold front will cool things down a bit on Sunday, and then a stronger cold front associated with an upper level trough will move through CO on Monday. The upper trough and associated cold front will significantly cool temps Monday and Tuesday. Any precipitation will remain mostly in the northern and central mountains on Monday, where a few inches of accumulation is possible above 8000 ft. We may see a brief flurry in the foothills on Monday above 8000 ft, but no accumulation is expected. Brisk northwest flow aloft will keep things cool and dry on Tuesday. Temps will moderate later this week with highs close to seasonal norms and remain dry. Although temps will be cool, fire danger will remain fairly high as ground fuels have dried out, and humidity levels will be low.
Long range models continue to indicate no significant precipitation is expected for CO through the next 7-10 , and possibly longer.
