wxgeek's weather-Snow Storm This Week - Tue/Wed

So, I feel slightly guilty currently sitting in 80 degree sunny weather and now posting about a snow storm, but such is life.

Latest models are in fair agreement regarding upcoming system. Euro is slightly slower and deeper as usual, but typical biases. So based on current forecats models, an upper trough will swing across CO beginning Tue afternoon with an associated cold front and bring snow across the northern and cenatral mountains Tuesday, with snow to the foothills and Plains on Tue night into Wed. Currently looks like between 1.0 and 1.25 inches of water equivalent, so thsi should produce 6-12 inches of snow for most areas, with possible higher amounts in favored areas. This system will bring the first significant snow of the season to the Urban Corridor, so roads could be pretty messy Wednesday. Snow level will start out 9000-10,000 ft Tue afternoon, but lower quickly Tue evening with snow down to Plains level by midnight. Snow could be heavy at times Tue night into Wed morning, so heaviest during the morning commute. Light snow could persist into Wed evening, so roads could still be slick for the evening commute with much colder temps on Wed into Wed night. Snow should end by Wed night and be cleared out by Thursday, with warming temps later in the week.

Storm track and intensity could still change, so stay tuned for latest updates from SpazCat and RyFly.
