AVALANCHE WARNING
THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER HAS ISSUED AN AVALANCHE
WARNING FOR A LARGE PORTION OF COLORADO MOUNTAIN AREAS. THESE AREAS
INCLUDE THE PARK RANGE...FLAT TOPS...FRONT RANGE...SUMMIT
COUNTY...VAIL...ELK AND WEST ELK MOUNTAINS...RUBY RANGE...SAN JUAN
MOUNTAINS...SAN MIGUEL MOUNTAINS...RICO MOUNTAINS...UNCOMPAHGRE
PLATEAU...DALLAS DIVIDE...AND THE LA GARITA MOUNTAINS.
NATURAL AND HUMAN TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE VERY LIKELY TODAY. SOME
AVALANCHES WILL BE LARGE AND DESTRUCTIVE. TRAVEL IN THE BACKCOUNTRY
IS NOT RECOMMENDED. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TRIGGER AVALANCHES FROM
REMOTE DISTANCES AND FROM LOW ANGLE TERRAIN. BE CAUTIOUS NEAR OR
BELOW ANY SLOPES 30 DEGREES OR STEEPER. EVEN SMALL AVALANCHES CAN
BURY AND KILL YOU.
