AVALANCHE WARNING
THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER IS ISSUING AN AVALANCHE
WARNING FOR THE FRONT RANGE MOUNTAINS EAST OF THE CONTINENTAL
DIVIDE. HEAVY SNOWFALL EAST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE HAS CREATED
VERY DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF
MORE THAN TWO FEET ARE POSSIBLE. THAT AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL WILL
OVERWHELM THE EXISTING SNOWPACK. NATURAL AND HUMAN TRIGGERED
AVALANCHES ARE LIKELY. STEEP SLOPES NEAR AND BELOW TREELINE COULD
PRODUCE SMALL BUT DANGEROUS AVALANCHES. NEAR AND ABOVE TREELINE
LARGE AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY AVALANCHES ARE POSSIBLE. AVALANCHES CAN
BE TRIGGERED FROM A DISTANCE OR ON LOW ANGLED TERRAIN BELOW STEEP
SLOPES. BACKCOUNTRY TRAVELERS SHOULD AVOID TRAVELING ON OR UNDER
SLOPES STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES. THIS STATEMENT APPLIES TO THE FRONT
