Many foothill areas received from 1/2 inch to 2 inches of rain yesterday, with 0.75 on Conifer Mtn, so ground is finally wet.
Nice plume of monsoonal moisture visible on satellite imagery this morning from northern Mexico into western and central CO. Atmosphere is moist and marginally unstable again today, so expect storms to form shortly after noon and persist into the nighttime hours over the High Country, Foothills and Plains of CO. Some storms will produce very heavy rainfall, hence a flash flood watch is in effect for much of the High Country and Foothills. Another 0.50 to 2.0 inches of rain possible for many areas of CO today, with a similar situation shaping up for Sunday as well. Small hail and frequent lightning will accompany storms.
Models continue to move the upper ridge over the mid MS valley westward, so monsoon flow will begin to diminish on Monday, but isolated showers and thunderstorms will still be possible next week, but not likely with the heavy rain of this weekend. Temps will also rise next week as upper ridge moves into the Great basin.
