wxgeek's weather- Slightly Cooler Better Precip Chances wknd

Upper level ridge currently centered over the 4 Corners region is forecast to remain in this apoproximate location well into next week. In general, this pattern is keeping the moist monsoon flow limited to AZ, NV and UT with a drier northwesterly flow across CO. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue to form over CO, but the coverage and precip will be more limited.

A weak upper trough will move through the northern Rockies on Friday and this will help to destabilize the atmosphere over CO some, which will aid in storm development Friday afternoon and evening, so slightly better chances for precip across the foothills and Plains Friday. A weak cold front will drag across CO with the upper trough and will cool temps slightly over the weekend. Low level moisture will increase some on Saturday due to cold front, so again slightly better chances for precip from storms on Saturday. Sunday looks to be drier with best chances for storms west of the Divide.

Next week will see temps rise again, with only isolated thunderstorm activity across the foothills and Plains, better chances west of the Divide. We may see a slightly better monsoon flow by the end of next week as the upper ridge may migrate a little to the east over NM.

In general, the upper air pattern is beginning to look much more like an early Fall pattern, with the jetstream making it's return across southern Canada, and a more active storm pattern across the northern U.S. It won't be too long until we begin talking about more active fronts and lows approaching CO.
