A cold front associated with an upper level trough will swing through eastern CO late tonight, which will bring cooler temps and a chance for some isolated showers Monday. Precip should be confined to the foothills and mountains east of the Divide, but any amounts will be on the light side. Upper ridge then builds back over the western US which will keep CO dry with temps back above seasonal norms the remainder of the week. We are very fortunate for our soaker last week, as without that, we would be seriously dry. The remainder of Sep looks like it will remain dry and mild. I have recorded 1.3 inches of rain so far in Sep on Conifer Mountain, so slose to the average of 1.4 inches for the month. Long range models indicate next chance for precip would not be until mid to late next week.
As the aforementioned cold front moves east, it will combine with Gulf of Mexico moisture to create very heavy rain for areas east of the Mississippi River Monday night into Wednesday, likely to cause some flooding and travel delays for anyone heading to athe East Coast on Tuesday. Even a chance for some snow across the northern Great Lakes.
