wxgeek's weather-Dry start to week, Snow Possible nxt friday

Combination of a weak cold front and some mid and high clouds will keep temps on the cool side today and into Saturday, warmer on Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Upper ridge will build along the West Coast early next week which will keep CO under a mild and dry northwest flow aloft. This looks like it will create a Santa Ana Wind event for SoCal next week, so elevated fire danger there. To add insult to misery, models indicate another winter storm will form along the Mid Atlantic coast next week bringing more rain and onshore winds, although northing compared to the superstorm of this week. Residents of this area do not need anymore rain and wind at this point, but Mother Nature is not always nice or fair.

Long range models have been suggesting we will see chances for snow across CO by Friday next week into next weekend. Lots of variations in the model solutions at this point, so no specifics yet, but likely we will see cooler temps and good chances for snow across the state Friday through Sunday next week. Hopefully the models are not just teasing us.

Pretty dry and warm October throughout CO. I recorded 7 inches on Conifer Mountain, well below the 15 inch average for the month. Currently we are around 30% of normal snowfall. Hopefully November provides us with some good storms.
