From the Elk Creek Fire Department:

U.S. Forest Service crews will burn approximately 12 slash piles near the Cub Creek Trailhead on Tuesday, Jan. 15 on the Clear Creek Ranger District. These hand piles are remnants of the Evergreen Timber Stand Improvement project.

Conditions are evaluated each day of the burn to determine if ignition will take place. Wind, fuel moisture and snow cover all play a factor in where and whether ignition occurs.

Some 200 hand piles on 9 acres from the same project were successfully burned on Monday about 0.75 miles west of the Cub Creek Trailhead and two miles north of Black Mountain.

For more information, contact the Boulder Ranger District office at 303-541-2500.

The operations may produce smoke and the smell of smoke in our district.
