Update Sun Feb 10

Band of snow associated with upper low in NE is bringing some light snow to the foothills and Urban Corridor currently. Flurries likely to continue through the day, with 1-2 inches of accumulation possible. Another upper level circulation is currently forming across southwest UT, and this feature will intensify and move into the 4 corners region on Monday, then move across northern NM on Tuesday. Thus, snow will intensify over the mountains, especially south of I-70 later today into Monday and Monday night. Southwest and central mountains could receive another 10-16 inches of snow from Sunday night into Tuesday morning. Foothills should see some light snow or flurries throughout Monday and Monday night with this system, so perhaps another 1-2 inches of accumulation on Monday into Tuesday morning, hence the Monday commute could be a little slower and slick in areas. On Tuesday, snow should be limited to southeast CO as the system exits CO. However, snow and ice will move into the southern Plains Tuesday, especially the TX and OK panhandle regions and northern OK, so travel could become difficult across this area.

As our system from Saturday moves east, line of severe weather has formed across eastern TX, LA and AR with tornadoes possible. This area will move east today and tonight. Blizzard conditions have moved into the northern Plains as well, so tough travel actoss the Dakotas and NE today.

Temps will remain at or below seasonal norms this week as cool northwest flow aloft persists. Some mountains snow possible later in the week, then temps warm and the state dries out into the weekend.

Update Sat Feb 9

Last Florida update. Latest model guidance a bit more friendly with snow as low tracks across the Palmer Divide, so far enough south that we may see some brief upslope later this afternoon and evening. Snow looks to begin in the foothills between 3 pm and 6 pm, and persist into early Sunday morning. Snow totals now in the 1-4 inch range. Northeast plains could see been more as low tracks northeast into western KS. Flurries still expected Sunday evening night so another inch or so possible. Models suggest more snow possible late next week, Thu/Fri time frame.

Latest reports from the northeast show up to 30 inches in some inland areas, with 6-18 inches along the coast. Some winds up to 80 mph, so lots of blowing and drifting.

Don't want everyone to think I have forgotten you, but currently enjoying some sun in Key West to celebrate my wife's birthday. Now that it's time to return, beginning to think about CO weather once again. Weekend system looking like another bust for eastern CO. Latest models bring an upper trough through CO on Saturday, but move it just far enough north with the surface low forming in east central CO to prevent significant upslope flow. Mountains will get a fair amount from Friday night into Sunday, but looks like only a few inches for the foothills and plains. Best chances for foothill snow will be Saturday evening and night, but flurries could persist into Monday as another piece of energy drops south across CO. If the system takes a more southerly track, then we could see more snow, but models not buying into that right now.

Big snow storm for the northeast on track for Friday into Saturday. Major travel disruptions likely with up to 2 feet of snow possible from NY north across New England.
