Here are some of the "Get Ready" instructions from Jeffco that are part of a Level One evac warning...

"Close windows/doors, turn on exterior & interior lights for visibility for responders (in the dark) , close blinds to deflect heat (in case fire reaches close to your location), shutoff natural gas/propane, remove combustibles from ext home, place sprinklers connected/ready to turn on, fill tubs, Back car in garage or drive- keys in ignition, if you close garage door:disconnect to allow removal if power failure, post a white cloth at end of driveway to indicate you have evacuated to help responders."

PLEASE NOTE. These are recommendation IN CASE YOU HAVE TO EVACUATE, in case they need to escalate the evacuation level. There is no immediate danger to life or structures at this moment.

Thanks, Walter.

For anyone interested, here is another link to a U.S. Bureau of Land Management pre-evacuation checklist for consideration: http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medialib/blm/nv/fire/living_with_fire_evacuation.Par.67140.File.dat/Living.w.Fire.Evacuation.Info.pdf
This appears to me to be a pretty comprehensive checklist well worth considering.
