Massive flash flooding across the Front Range of Colorado has resulted in at least two deaths, the destruction of multiple homes and several road closures Thursday morning.
The first reported fatality occurred from a collapsed structure in Jamestown said Andrew Barth, spokesman for the Boulder Office of Emergency Management.
Rain continued to pour throughout the night and morning, causing mud slides and rock slides.
In the southern part of the state, flash floods resulted in at least one death. A body was recovered from South Nevada Avenue and Interstate 25 Thursday morning, according to Colorado Springs Fire Department officials.
While no missing person reports had been filed as of 5 a.m., Barth said the situation could change as the sun came up.
The University of Colorado Boulder closed campus Thursday and had to evacuate some dorms due to the flood waters, said Bronson Hilliard, CU spokesman.
Almost all roads to Boulder were cut off because of the flooding, including U.S. 36 at Sheridan Boulevard and the main roads down the canyons. U.S. 36 was also closed between Lyons and Estes Park, according to authorities.
