NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 26, 2014
County-wide emergency notification call planned for March 5
Jefferson and Broomfield Counties testing existing CodeRed system
February 26, 2014 –Jefferson and Broomfield Counties emergency services agencies, including law enforcement, fire and EMS, are working together to test their emergency notification system CodeRED.
On March 5, starting at 9 a.m., the CodeRED emergency notification system will begin making test notifications. This process is expected to take several hours due to the large number of notifcations being made via landline, cell phone, text and email.
The CodeRED system is used by emergency services agencies in Jefferson and Broomfield counties to help disseminate information regarding critical incidents. In addition to Jefferson and Broomfield counties, there will be portions of Adams and Clear Creek Counties included in the CodeRED notification.
Citizens can elect to also receive notification of severe weather using the CodeRED Weather Warning system.
Landlines are automatically included in CodeRED notifications, but residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the CodeRED registration web site at your911.net to add additional contact information, including additional phone numbers, SMS (text) and email address preferences. This is especially important for those addresses without a landline, as individuals must register if they want to receive emergency notifications.
Residents wanting more information about the test notification process or with questions should contact their participating emergency service agency.

If you haven't yet signed up to receive emergency alerts, please do so today if you'd like to be included in this test.

You can customize your alerts as well: whether you'd like to receive Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood, or Winter Storm Warnings as well as the standard emergency alerts. You can choose if you'd like a call, text, and/or email or some combination thereof, and set it for multiple numbers.
If you've previously signed up, please log in and check that all of your information is up-to-date. If you've changed carriers, Verizon to AT&T for example, that will interfere with the alert being sent correctly.
Helpful hint: if you enter the phone numbers from which the various alerts come, then it won't come up as Unknown on your Caller ID and you'll know it's a call to answer!

If you download the app on your phone or other mobile device, and turn on GPS tracking, it will send you alerts for the area your phone is currently in too, so it works when you are traveling outside your home area as well.
