This morning at 11:04 am a severe thunderstorm was passing through the Fairplay and Hartsel area of Park County.
At this time Park County Communications’ received multiple reports of a tornado on the ground moving northeast in the area of Black Mountain. Emergency responders monitored the tornado. An emergency alert notification call was made to residence within a 30 mile radius of Fairplay. This tornado touched down and we do have reports of damaged structures.
Park County Sheriff’s deputies, Fairplay Police, South Park Ambulance, Northwest Fire and Hartsel Fire began to check subdivisions for injured people and to report on damage.
At about 12:28 pm hours another tornado was reported just north of the Eleven Mile State Park heading northeast toward Lake George. A second emergency alert notification call was immediately sent out to residents within a 30 mile radius of the reported location. This Tornado was reportedly moving at 10-15 miles per hour. At this time reports were received that another tornado was forming in the Fairplay area. The second Fairplay tornado did not touch down.
At approximately 12:39 Sheriff Wegener reported the third tornado had just struck Lake George. Several structures were damaged. Emergency responders are currently working to assess damage and check for any injured people in Lake George area
No injuries have been reported. There are reports of structural damage in the area.
We will provide more information as we receive it. The National Weather Service has reported that a second storm will enter Park County within the hour; however, it is not expected to be as severe.

At this time, the danger from severe storms appears to have passed out of Park County. We have no reports of injuries and the only evacuations were associated with the tornado in Lake George. Those who should need shelter will be able to go to the Lake George Community Center for lodging and assistance.

It was another wild weekend of weather in Colorado. Tornadoes touched down in several spots Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2014.
One of at least two twisters spotted, the first touched down in Fairplay. Then, another touched down near Lake George.
