Red Flag (Fire Weather) Warning for Northeastern Colorado

High fire danger across much of northeast Colorado today.

Strong winds will develop across Northeast Colorado this morning and persist through the afternoon. Low relative Humidities in the teens and dry fuels will further exacerbate the fire danger.

Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 6 pm MDT this evening for wind, low relative humidity and dry fuels for northeast and east central Colorado.

Affected area: Fire Weather zones 215, 216, 238, 239. 240, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249. 250 and 251.

Timing: strong winds will develop this morning and continue through this evening.
Winds: west 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to around 45 mph.
Relative humidity: as low as 12 percent.

Impacts: New and existing fires may experience rapid fire growth.

Recommended actions
A Red Flag Warning means that critical Fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme Fire behavior.
