Firefighters fight wildfire near Kenosha Pass; more than 250 acres burned

The Snyder Creek 2 Fire, in the area about 19 miles north of Fairplay and three miles southeast of Kenosha Pass, was reported about 4:20 p.m. Sunday. It was 10 percent contained as of 9 p.m.

The forest service hopes for containment by 6 p.m. Monday.

Officials said the fire was caused by someone shooting a firearm.

Great news about the containment. Even though the winds are strong, it looks like only grass is being burnt. The trees have retained enough moisture to shrug it off.

. Fire will be flown on a training mission by the Colorado Fire Prevention and Control Multi Mission Aircraft (MMA) tonight to get a more accurate acreage.

Do not subject firefighters to unsafe conditions

Fingers crossed for a heavier Spring storm than predicted! It would be good for Mother Nature to soak down the forests!
