Grass Fire near Hwy 285 in South Park

Per cosmiccowboy55: 1/4 acre grass fire off of 285 in south park. dist 4&6 have been dispatched

Per cosmiccowboy55: Highway 285 just closed from Kenosha to Fairplay.

The fire is located at mm 188 and they called for a wildland engine and tender from dist 7.

Fire is the area of the painted cow on this side of red hill.

Out-of-control burn prompts US 285 closure

FAIRPLAY - A prescribed burn that went out of control prompted authorities to close US 285 east of Fairplay, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The burn was first reported at around 3 p.m. There’s no word yet on how long authorities expect to control the blaze, or when the highway will reopen.

Hwy 285 is now open both directions
