Seasonal Closure of Mount Evans Highway Top Five-Mile Segment Starts Sept. 6

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY—On Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the top five-mile segment of Mount Evans Highway (Colorado 5) to vehicle traffic for the season.

CDOT typically closes this segment—starting from Summit Lake—the day after Labor Day, per agreement with the U.S. Forest Service, to help protect the resources found toward the top of the mountain.

The road from Echo Lake to Summit Lake will remain open into early October, as weather conditions permit.
