The Colorado State Patrol said a teen may have been on drugs when she sat on a highway and was hit by a car near Bailey.

A 18-year-old woman from Crestview, Fla., whose name was not released pending next-of-kin notification, was walking on the shoulder on Highway 285, 2 miles south of Bailey, just before 4 p.m. Monday when she abruptly stopped and sat, the State Patrol said Tuesday.

She was partly in the southbound lane when she was hit by a Subaru Forester driven by Nina Thornburg, 59, of Lakewood, State Patrol said.

An 18-year-old Florida woman died Monday after she was hit by a car on U.S. 285 in Bailey.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Celeste White, 18, was walking south on the southbound shoulder of U.S. 285 about 3:56 p.m. when she sat down. The patrol said White was then struck by a 2015 Subaru Forester driven by Nina Thornburg, 59, of Lakewood.
