Jeffco Road and Bridge had to close South Platte River Road between Highway 126 and Foxton Road due to an ice buildup over topping the road from the river. We will have a better idea what caused the buildup after daylight and will share any updates as they become available. www.facebook.com/JeffcoColorado/photos/a...2359/?type=3&theater

*Road Closure Update*
Jeffco Road and Bridge closed South Platte River Road south of Foxton Road in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 6, due to an ice buildup coming up and over the road from the river. This ice jam is approximately 2.5 miles southeast of Foxton Road and appears to be 200-500 yards long. The map of the area from the post on Friday was incorrect, the map shown this morning is more accurate.

At this point, access to only one home is directly affected by the ice jam and the home owner has been contacted. The Road and Bridge division is bringing in excavators to begin clearing the road. All other home owners are able to access their properties by way of different routes.

Updates will be posted at this link: jeffco.us/road-and-bridge/news/south-pla...ntil-further-notice/

*Road Closure Update* January 10: Road Reopened

Jeffco Road and Bridge has reopened South Platte River Road after working to clear the ice dam. They will continue to monitor the situation and, if needed, will close the road again out of an abundance of caution.

Thank you for your patience with this situation!
