From Jeffco Sheriff's Office:
Quick Arrest on Hwy 285 Today

If you were caught up in the traffic incident on Hwy 285 earlier today and wondered what was going on, here's what happened:

Several drivers called in to report a vehicle driving recklessly and swerving all over the road. A deputy quickly responded and got behind the vehicle, which suddenly did a U-turn and started driving southbound in the northbound lanes.

Thankfully, the driver did not hit any of the oncoming vehicles and the deputy performed a PIT maneuver, forcing the car to stop. The driver then got out of the vehicle and tried to run away, but the deputy quickly caught her.

The female driver then assaulted the deputy and a second deputy who arrived to assist taking her into custody.Their injuries are minor.

Numerous charges are pending against the driver, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.

We're grateful no one was seriously injured during this scary incident.

From the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office:

Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help
Investigators Seek Victims of Highway 285 Incident

Jefferson County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking to locate additional victims of a felony reckless driving incident that occurred around noon on July 10 on Highway 285 in the area between Wagon Trail and S. Hillview Road, on both north and southbound sides of the highway.

Multiple motorists had to take evasive measures to avoid colliding with the reckless driver who, in many instances, intentionally tried to hit their vehicle. These motorists are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (303) 271-5612; reference case number 17-18039.

Just before noon on Monday, Dispatch received a REDDI (report every drunk driver immediately) report from a motorist on Hwy. 285, stating that a black Jeep Cherokee was swerving all over the lanes of northbound traffic near Wagon Trail. After one of our deputies began following the vehicle northbound at S. Turkey Creek Rd., the driver made an abrupt U-turn and began traveling southbound.

Evading an attempted traffic stop near Meyers Ranch, the suspect vehicle’s driver began traveling northbound in the passing lane of southbound Highway 285, posing an imminent threat of serious bodily injury to oncoming motorists.

After witnessing the driver make several attempts to intentionally direct the Jeep into oncoming traffic, our deputy implemented a successful PIT maneuver (Pursuit Intervention Technique) and was able to bring the suspect vehicle to a stop, whereupon a foot pursuit occurred, resulting in the apprehension of Jennifer Marie Brooks, 46 years of age.

Brooks faces pending felony charges of 1st degree assault, four counts of 2nd degree assault, vehicular eluding, felony menacing, and two counts of attempted 1st degree assault. Additional misdemeanor and traffic violations are also pending, including reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and reckless driving. Motorists who were victimized by Brooks’ actions on Monday, by having to take evasive measures to avoid colliding with the Jeep or other motorists, are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office and file a report.

Please share this information with anyone you think may have been affected by or involved in this incident.
