...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Denver has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of central Colorado,
including the following areas, Central and Southeast Park
County and Jefferson and West Douglas Counties Above 6000
Feet/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Northeast Park Counties Below 9000
Feet.

* Through late tonight

* Deep moisture combined with slow shower and thunderstorm
movement will create conditions favorable for heavy rainfall
and flash flooding. Recent rainfall has saturated soils in
many locations from the Palmer Divide into Lincoln county, so
any heavy rainfall will create more significant runoff. The
main threat will occur from 3 PM to midnight.

* Heavy rains may produce quick runoff over urban areas or
saturated soils. Burn scars can increase the runoff time as
well. This may result in flooded roads, creeks and drainages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be ready to take action if
Flash Flood Warnings are issued. Be prepared to move to higher
ground and avoid flooded areas.
