Small brush fires along I-70 WB at MM 255 was created by MountainTownAlerts
Foothills Fire is requesting mutual aid from Genesee Fire to bring a brush truck and Evergreen Fire to bring a tender to help with several small brush fires along westbound I-70 at MM 255.

The fire is between I-70 and US 40, additional law enforcement requested for traffic control.

LE requesting to close traffic on westbound US 40 at the Genesee exit MM 256 as the fire is headed that direction and they want to clear the area for fire personnel to work.

Staging at Station 6 awaiting further orders. Golden Fire Rescue has arrived to assist. Significant winds on site.

Fire is still on the ground, has not reached up in the trees yet. Winds are out of the east.

Grass fire has closed 2 right lanes of I-70 Westbound btwn MM 254 & 255. Also Hwy 40 is closed in both directions in same area. Avoid area!

Fire is estimated at about an acre in size
Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Fairmount Fire, and Clear Creek Fire sending apparatus as well.
