From Andy Nortnik at Fun & Funky Art Gallery & Gifts in Bailey:
WARNING! NORTH FORK OF SOUTH PLATTE RIVER WASH OUT! The river ice and major debris including trees, limbs, ice etc. just let loose next to the Coney Island Boardwalk at Stagecoach Rd and Hwy 285! Those with friends/relatives fishing and/or close to the river should call/text them immediately! The river rose almost 3 feet in 60 seconds! Down stream leading into Deckers and further points East should be warned! Time approx. 11:25am. The river right now is about 1.5-2 feet above normal and holding but much ice and debris is still going downhill fast!

From Debra Bardwell Ector Falkner 1 hr ago:

Does anyone know anything about the surge of water down the river? It happened about 10 minutes ago and has gone down quite a bit. TONS of debris came with it. Is this normal?

We were watching to see if we needed to evacuate - everything looks fine now. It's gone way down.

Jim McCoy posted a video to North Fork Fire Rescue's Facebook Page of the December 8th ice flow as it reached its way to Pine Grove and passed on through. Pretty neat to watch!
