...STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING ACCUMULATING SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH TONIGHT...

.A moist storm system will move east across the region today and tonight. Snow will spread from the mountains of western Colorado into the north central mountains and Summit county later this morning into the afternoon. The snow will be heavy at times this afternoon with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible. Snow intensity will quickly diminish by early evening, with lighter snow showers then prevailing through the rest of tonight.

High country roadways will become icy and snow packed during the afternoon and evening hours as the heavier snow and colder temperatures arrive. Gusty winds will also produce blowing snow and reduced visibility.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MST TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Plan on hazardous road conditions and slow travel, particularly this afternoon into early evening. In addition, some reductions to visibility are expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with localized amounts up to 10 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...Rocky Mountain National Park and the Medicine Bow Range and The Mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range, and the Indian Peaks.

* WHEN...Until midnight MST tonight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Snowfall rates during the peak of the storm this afternoon may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
