Barricaded suspect situation at 285 near Kings Valley

There's an active situation with a barricaded suspect in a home near Kings Valley just south of the Kum N Go gas station exit (Kings Valley Dr). A son is armed and is reportedly refusing to allow his mother to leave who is on 911. First responders are staging, please avoid the area if at all possible.

In Conifer where deputies say a 37-yr-old man is holding his mother hostage. They say he is armed with guns. She is in contact with authorities. A swat team will be attempting to get him and his mother out safely. #9News

A reverse 911 alert urging neighbors to shelter in place was sent out to residents within a quarter mile of the address.

Deputies say an armed man is holding his disabled mother hostage in Conifer on Monday evening.

The suspect's father called 911 around 6:45 p.m. from outside the home. Deputies say earlier in the night, the suspect assaulted his parents.

His mother is in contact with law enforcement

CONIFER, Colo. (CBS4) – Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a barricade situation near Conifer Monday night.

Officials say a 37-year-old man is barricaded in his home on the 12000 block of South Highway 285 with his 69-year-old mother also inside.

They say the man lives with his mother and father. The father was able to escape and call 911.

About 20 minutes ago it sounded as if several people were released from the scene, but no updates were given about the incident. We're signing off, we'll check in first thing later this morning.

The shelter in place order has been lifted for residents affected by the police activity in the 12000 block of S. Hwy 285. We are still working the incident; however, the public is not in danger.

The barricaded subject incident has ended in Conifer. The body of a male believed to be the suspect was found inside the home this morning. Identification and cause of death are pending the Coroner's investigation.
