Flash Flood Watch for the MMT area

18 May 2018 12:06 #1 by Chief Meteorologist
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 3:00 p.m. Friday May 18 through late Saturday May 19. The National Weather Service has issued this Watch because of the threat of heavy rain in the foothills through much of the weekend. The green highlighted area on the map is the Watch area.

We have strong low pressure to our southeast, transporting a lot of moisture into our area. We'll have adequate moisture and dynamic forcing to produce extended periods of rain and a few thunderstorms. Some heavy rain is possible, potentially causing flash flooding. Flash Floods are extremely dangerous: Do not drive through moving water, no matter how deep. Please watch for rising water, especially in flood-prone areas. Move to higher ground if you encounter flooding. Flash Floods can occur with little or no warning. We will keep you posted here. -Meteorologist Steve Hamilton
