Burn Ban Restrictions

The following acts are PROHIBITED on ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY
Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire, including charcoal, except in a designated campground in a designated metal fire ring.
Smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is ba1Ten or cleared of all flammable materials.
Operating motorized vehicles off designated roads or trails.
Blasting, welding or other activities, which generate flame or flammable material.
Fireworks and model rocketry.
Using explosive targets and metal jacketed bullets.
Operating a chain saw without a 1 0lb ABC or 2 ½ gallon pressurized or equivalent fire extinguisher, and large size pointed shovel readily available for quick use.
Exceptions:
Persons with a written exemption from the Sheriff that specifically authorizes the otherwise prohibited act.
Persons using a fire solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels.
Persons conducting activities in those designated areas where the activity is specifically authorized by the Sheriff.
Any Federal, State or local officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
For commercial operations authorized under contract or pe1mit, internal and external combustion engines may be operated as approved by the Forest Service within designated areas.

NO OPEN BURNING IN PARK COUNTY
This means no burning of any material or substance, including rubbish, wastepaper, wood, vegetative material or any other flammable material, outside
The U.S. Forest Service is no longer allowing any campfires of any kind. This means that even campfires in designated, enclosed fire pits are not allowed. Sheriff Wegener will allow (ON FOREST SERVICE LAND, BLM AND STATE PARKS) The building, maintaining or using fire in constructed, permanent fire pits or fire grate within developed recreation sites and the use of portable stoves, lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum, pressurized liquid fuel or a fully enclosed (sheepherder type) stove with a ¼ spark arrester type screen is permitted. As detailed in the stage 1 fire restrictions that went into effect July 19th at 12:01 am.
Target shooting is allowed using LEAD BULLENTS ONLY
