The latest model analysis shows a fair and mild Memorial Day Weekend ahead for the foothills communities. There are a few caveats. Saturday afternoon, wind may be a little gusty. Also, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms indicated on two forecast models for Sunday afternoon and evening, and Monday afternoon and evening. Widespread precipitation is not expected, and skies should be mostly sunny, most of the time. High temperatures will range from the mid 60s in the higher elevations to the mid 70s to mid 80s lower down. Overall, the weather will be fair for outdoor activities. Just be on the lookout for a stray thunderstorm Sunday and Monday afternoon. As I mentioned, precipitation chances are low, but still possible. Lightning is the biggest hazard in foothills thunderstorms. If you hear thunder, get indoors. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend. -Meteorologist Steve Hamilton
