Fire near Holmes Gulch

Per cosmiccowboy55: Holmes Gulch / Hayman burn area, Platte Canyon, Elk Creek, and North Fork are searching for a fire. Flames seen.

Looks to be about half an acre, active flames on one side, smoldering on the other. Best access is off of Holmes Gulch Way. Trying to determine if it's in Jeffco or Park County.

Platte Canyon is on scene, USFS en route. Reporting as lightning strike, North Fork Fire believes it's located in Park County.

Approximately 5% containment, but they believe they will be able to get it under control. West Metro Fire is also on scene.

They are attempting to evacuate some homes on Holmes Gulch Way.

Wind blowing 5-10mph in northwest direction, fire creeping. Firefighters getting water on fire.

# Wildfire at Holmes Gulch Way. It's within 1/2 mile radius of 168 Holmes Gulch Way, on the border of Jefferson/Park Counties south of Pine Junction. Approx size of the fire is 2 acres with a wet line in front of the fire. Residents have been given a Level 1 Evacuation notice.

Edit to add: This means residents need to be ready to evacuate and are encouraged to remove livestock and pets out of the area and to prepare for a full evacuation. Evacuations are voluntary but, residents are encouraged to leave if concerned. At this time there are no road closures in effect.
