Viking Fire: Wildland fire off of Silver Bear (Pleasant Park Rd) Conifer

Wildland fire off of Pleasant Park Rd to Silver Bear to Viking Trail. 1/2 acre, putting off quite a bit of heat, burning up into rock outcropping, only access is by foot.

Mutual aid request to Evergreen Fire for Type 6 Engine.

Good news - no injuries and no structures threatened on #vikingfire @ElkCreekFire. Over 30 firefighters are currently working on the fire and extending a hose line around it.

We haven't received any official confirmation of that yet. As soon as we hear anything, we'll share it; quite likely the crews came in for the night, are monitoring overnight and will mop up tomorrow. We do know that a nearby resident who was preparing to evacuate was able to stay so that's a very good sign!

Viking Fire Update:

The fire is located in Conifer off of Pleasant Park Rd. The cause was lighting.

Elk Creek received multiple reports of smoke in the area and when the fire was located resources from Platte Canyon Fire Protection District, Evergreen Fire, North Fork and USFS assisted with suppression efforts.

The fire is .6 of an acre burning in heavy dead and down trees. Elk Creek Firefighters were on scene all night and will continue working on the fire today.

FINAL UPDATE: The #VikingFire in Conifer is 100 percent contained as of 11:30 a.m. Crews will remain on site throughout today to assist with mop up efforts.
