Jefferson County Open Space Fire Ban Begins June 15, 2018
Starting Friday June 15, 2018, Jefferson County Open Space parks will be under a fire ban. The following activities and items are not permitted during this Jeffco Open Space fire ban:
No campfires
No charcoal grills or open flames
No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or a developed trailhead area that is devoid of all vegetation. Visitors must safely and properly dispose of all cigarette butts.
Only devices that are liquid fueled or gas fueled including gas grills and gas stoves are allowed. These devices should only be used in developed areas including picnic areas, campsites and trailheads that are completely cleared of vegetation for at least a six-foot diameter. Visitors are reminded not to use gas grills or stoves in tall grass.
Jeffco Open Space appreciates visitor compliance of this important measure for natural resource protection and encourages visitors to be fire-wise this summer.
Please note that all JCOS parks will still maintain the following fire restrictions at this time: Gas grills and camp stoves only. No open fires or flames; no smoking, except in parking lots/trailheads.
NOTICE: Park regulations related to fires (and e-bikes) haves been updated
Jeffco Open Space will maintain Stage 2 fire restrictions year-round for all parks. This means:
No campfires
No charcoal grills or open flames
No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or a developed trailhead area that is devoid of all vegetation. Visitors must safely and properly dispose of all cigarette butts
Only devices with an on/off switch, such as gas stoves, are allowed. Current Jefferson County conditions are such that any accidental spark or unattended campfire could result in catastrophic loss and danger for the land, wildlife, and residents. This updated fire regulation reflects our commitment to keeping our community fire safe.
