Passenger vehicle traction law
  • US 285 in both directions between MM 229 (Pine Junction) and MM 250 (near Lakewood).
    • US 285 Southbound / Northbound Kenosha Pass (Milemarker 200-228)[/li]
  • CO 9 in both directions between Alma Placer Sand and Gravel (Alma) and MM 80 (Hoosier Pass).
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound between Idaho Springs and Denver/C-470 (Milemarker 241-259)
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound between Silverthorne and Georgetown (Milemarker 205-228)
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound between Vail and Copper Mountain (Milemarker 178-195)
Passenger vehicles are required to have mud or snow tires or use chains or alternative traction devices or be a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle.

Commercial vehicle chain law
  • US 285 between MM 229 (Pine Junction) and MM 250 (near Lakewood).
  • US 285 in both directions between MM 199 (Kenosha Pass) and Wandcrest Av (1 mile south of Pine Junction).
  • CO 9 SB between Riverpark Dr (Breckenridge) and County Road 4 (near Hoosier Pass).
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound Mt. Vernon Canyon (Milemarker 250-259)
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound Floyd Hill (Milemarker 241-250)
  • I-70 Westbound Georgetown to Eisenhower Tunnel (Milemarker 228-215)
  • I-70 Eastbound Silverthorne to Eisenhower Tunnel (Milemarker 205-213)
  • I-70 Eastbound Vail to Vail Pass Summit (Milemarker 178-190)
Chains or alternative traction devices required for all commercial motor vehicles including buses and vans of 16 or more passenger capacity. EB CMVs – There is no truck parking east of Milepost 133 or in Vail Valley. Trucks waiting out the chain law should not proceed past Dotsero – exit 133.

Full closure
  • US 6 in both directions between MM 220 and MM 229 (Loveland Pass). There is a full closure because of adverse weather.
