We are working with firefighters to evacuate citizens & put out a fire near the mouth of Deer Creek Park near Grizzly and Bear Claw Drives. Fire is currently 200 by 200 feet. Call came in around 4:45 p.m. & a chopper is en route. Please avoid the area! #jeffco

A CodeRed alert was just sent out to neighbors in the affected areas to evacuate via Cougar, not Grizzly Drive.

CLOSURE: South Valley Park, Hildebrand Ranch Park and Deer Creek Canyon Park are all closed due to fire. Crews are on scene working to contain the fire.

154 residences have been notified to evacuate, Chatfield is the evacuation center.

Spot weather: gusty NW winds 15-20mph will continue, decrease in evening. Temp around 90.

The CodeRed for the #DeerkCreekCanyonParkFire was sent to 284 houses. The neighborhood to the east is being evacuated as well as the park. The evacuation center is at Chatfield High School. Please avoid the area while firefighters are fighting an active scene #jeffco

Fire is approximately 5 acres in size. Checking on status of air resources, one helo had to come from Western slope.

Looking for additional resources for structure protection.
