C470 is closed both directions due to a semi fully engulfed in fire. Traffic being diverted off the highway. Warning of brush fire spreading to the east from that location.

Fire by side of road westbound/northbound C470


Scanner: They will begin diverting traffic at Hwy 285, expanding the closure further back from Belleview. Anticipate it will be several hours before they will be able to re-open the highway.

C-470 closed at Ken Caryl Avenue on the other side

The fire is out at this point.

C-470 EB/WB: Road closed between US 285 and Ken Caryl Avnue. update; closure points have expanded at this time, no estimated time of reopening. Use alternate route. Bike path closed in area.

Hwy 285 SB exit ramp to C470 EB is now blocked.

From Kayla Vella: For those trying to use Ken Caryl to get around, it is slow moving and there is a multi car crash on Simms they are still trying to clear.

Our crews on the accident on 470 between Bowles and Ken Caryl. Semi crash sparked a grass fire. Vehicle fire and grass fire are out. Colorado State Patrol on scene investigating.

Westbound C470 closure extended back to Kipling Ave. and goes to Bowles Ave. Eastbound C470 from Hwy 285 to Ken Caryl.

Edit to add: per CSP, westbound C470 will remain closed through the evening rush hour, no ETA on eastbound re-opening.

The continuing congestion,chaos and closures are a CONSTANT reminder of WHY we went
west to MONTROSE......after being on the front range since 1969.....altho 550 to TELLURIDE
is getting to rival 285, it is a little bit saner...not much tho.

We are getting ready to open eastbound C-470 from US 285 / Quincy and Bowles. Eastbound only. Very extensive clean up and repairs remaining westbound. Alternate route required through rush hour. S1
