...AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY FOR WILDFIRE SMOKE FROM 500 PM FRIDAY UNTIL 900 AM SATURDAY...
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued the following...
WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.
WHERE...Jefferson County.
WHEN...500 PM Friday September 20 to 900 AM Saturday September 21
ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of heavy smoke from the Range View Wildfire will generally move to the east and northeast of the Fire through Friday evening, possibly bringing periods of smoke to areas downwind including Golden. As the winds calm overnight Friday night, smoke will settle and could produce periods of heavy smoke to Genesee and Golden through early Saturday morning.
HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
The firefighters seem to be getting a handle on the Bald Mountain Fire, and the Air Quality Alert expired earlier this morning, so air quality has improved. Assuming that no new fires break out, or this one doesn't escape fire lines, that trend should continue. Whether it will be all clear by tomorrow we don't know.
