Elk Creek Fire responding to reported brush fire in the area of Wandcrest Ave and Hwy 285.

Elk Creek Fire arrived on scene, confirmed active flames, appears to be wildland at this time. Approximately 40x50' brush pile, 20' flame lengths.

Scene assessment: Winds are light 0-5mph at this time, 0% slope, zero flames at this time, no other hazards, threat potential low to none. Getting a line around the pile. Estimated time of containment is 2 hours, requesting a Park County deputy to arrive on scene.

All incoming Elk Creek Fire units and North Fork Fire apparatus please continue on in.

Approximately 2,000 gallons of water put on the fire, crews have a line all around. Slowing water operations. Crews at staging can clear and return to stations.

Fire is contained at this time. No flames, but smoke may continue to be seen throughout the night. Crews will return in the morning to check on the scene.

All units clear and available, command terminated.

The smoldering pile from last night is putting off a lot of smoke. Elk Creek Fire is on scene monitoring and not seeing any flames.
