Jeffco Emergency Communications Authority: CodeRED Test May 25 @ 9am

CodeRED is the Emergency Alert Notification system that Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Park County 911 Dispatch Centers use to alert you that there's severe weather, a dangerous police action situation nearby, a fire from which you need to evacuate, or other immediate emergencies. Jeffco is testing the system tomorrow, May 25th, at 9:00am.

- Landlines are automatically registered but cell phones are not and you MUST opt in to receive these alerts. You can choose whether to receive a phone call, text message, email, or a combination of all three.

- If you've already signed up and haven't checked your settings in a while, please take a moment to do so. If you've changed cell phone carriers (e.g. switched from T-Mobile to Verizon, for example), you must update that or you may not receive an alert.

- If your children have cell phones, please have them sign up as well. In the event of an emergency, cell phone towers can become overloaded and you may not be able to get through to them to let them know there's an emergency near them if they are home alone or with a babysitter. If they are signed up, they will receive the same alert and can implement the family emergency plan you have created and gone over with them so they know what to do.

From Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District and Jefferson County Colorado Government:

The Jefferson County Emergency Communications Authority will test CodeRED, the emergency notification system, on behalf of Broomfield County, Jefferson County, and Westminster law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service agencies on May 25, 2021.

Starting at 9 a.m. on May 25, the CodeRED emergency notification system will begin making test notification calls on all landlines, as well as registered cell phones and email addresses. This process is expected to take several hours due to the large number of notifications that need to be made. The CodeRED system is used by emergency services agencies in Jefferson County to help disseminate information regarding critical incidents.

Landlines are automatically included in CodeRED notifications, but residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the CodeRED registration website ( www.jeffco.us/473/Emergency-Notifications ) to add contact information including additional cell phone numbers, SMS (text), and email address preferences. Residents may also elect to receive severe weather notifications.

Registration is especially important for those addresses without a landline, as individuals MUST REGISTER if they want to receive emergency notifications. Community members who have additional questions about the test notification process, or would like more information can call 303.438.6400.

Today, Jefferson County conducted a test of the CodeRED notification system to make sure the system is working properly.

If you are signed up with CodeRED you should have received the notice of the test on all the devices you had signed up on.

If you signed up and did NOT receive the test notice, please call 303-438-6400 and let them know you did not receive the notification.

If you are not signed up for CodeRED we encourage you to do so immediately as this is the system Jefferson County uses to send out emergency notifications: public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/655AC5D55998
