#BurningBearFire: Wildland Fire 3700 block of County Road 62, Grant

Per cosmiccowboy55: Platte Canyon Fire and Elk Creek Fire are responding to a reported wildfire about 100yds off County Road 62 (Guanella Pass) down a trail. Fire was reported to be about the size of a pickup truck imprint with 6-8 foot flames.

Per cosmiccowboy55: The name of the fire is #RunningBearFire and it is now estimated to be 1/4 to 1/2 an acre in size. Park County Sheriff's deputies will be closing access to CR 62 shortly.

Initial size up,
1/4 to 1/2 acre.
Fire behavior,
Currently creeping.
Fuels burning,
Primarily (type 1) duff and grasses.

At 2:56p
PCFPD crews were called to a reported wildland fire off of or near Guenella Pass.

First arriving crews have confirmed a wildland fire, command has been initiated by 501, additional information to follow, PLEASE AVOID THE AREA.

Burning Bear Fire was considered contained and completely extinguished by approximately 4:40p.

Fire location
S.E. of Park County rd 62 at the Burning Bear Trailhead
All of our crews have been released, no reported injuries.
Fire was located on the #USFS_PikeSanIsab lands, they assumed command will continue monitoring the burn area if needed.

Good job firefighters! Crazy, I was just there on Monday. It was so beautiful and green, still snow on the pass and ice on the lakes. :campdog: Be careful out there, looks can be deceiving.
