Pleasant View Fire, Golden Fire, and West Metro Fire are on scene of a residential structure fire, with reports of a trapped party, on Mt Vernon Rd. Media staging will be at the church located at 705 Ulysses St. @Fairmount_FR also assisting on this scene.

Today at 10:30 our deputies responded to the 17100 block of Mount Vernon Road on reports of a structure fire. There is fire damage to one residence. One deputy and 2 fire personnel were transported to a hospital for precaution of smoke / fire related injuries. Fire personnel and Law enforcement will be in the area for a while. This is still an active scene and investigation. No known cause of the fire has been determined.

The fire investigation on Mount Vernon Rd is now an active death investigation. Fire crews confirmed 1 fatality. Deputy and fire personnel were transported for possible injuries obtained during life saving efforts. @Fairmount_FR is conducting the investigation into the cause of the fire.

At about 10:30 a.m., deputies and firefighters with Golden and Pleasant View fire departments, and Fairmount Fire Protection District, responded to a fire on the 17100 block of Mount Vernon Road, according to the sheriff’s office. One deputy and two firefighters were injured.

“They were trying to get to the person who died but there was too much fire and too much smoke,” said Mike Taplin, a sheriff’s spokesman.
