Wildland Fire - Porcupine Road (Valley of the Sun Subdivision)
There is an active wildland fire off of Porcupine Rd in the Valley of the Sun Subdivision. Evacuation of the area is active and those who need shelter and are effected by the fire are being directed to the Fairplay Community Center at the Fairplay Fairgrounds. There are no injuries or property damage reported. Multiple districts on scene to address the threat as well as air support. For updates or information on the fire or evacuations, call 719-836-4200
Per Larry Allen of Old Man and a Tractor, who was working in the area today, the helicopter has made 3 passes and people are evacuating prettily steadily. Unfortunately, the wind is blowing pretty good he says.
From Park County:
Fire is currently 2 acres and moving to the North and West, No structures are involved at this time. The Fairplay Community Center, at the Fairplay Fairgrounds, are open for those who are evacuated. The Fairgrounds will be able to house a limited amount of livestock should that be needed. The Community Center shelter can only take in service animals, so any others will require other accommodations.

Park County Sheriff is allowing residents to return to their homes. The only people limited from returning, are residents who reside on Porcupine. All residents of the area are being advised upon return to be on standby for immediate evacuation should the fire start back up throughout the night..

Fire is contained, no flames, spot fires have been put out. There is a little smoke, crews are working on mop up. Residents can return home.
