...THE SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHEASTERN CLEAR CREEK AND WEST CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTIES...
At 211 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms just west and southwest of Evergreen. This will cause small stream flooding, especially in the Brook Forest area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Brook Forest and Evergreen.
Brook Forest is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. This includes the following streams and drainages...
Elk Creek, Bear Creek, North Turkey Creek, Maxwell Creek, North Elk Creek, Cub Creek and Blue Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 1 inch are expected over the area, with the heavier rain shifting toward Evergreen and Aspen Park. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of creeks and streams, roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains could also trigger rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain.
