Project Background:
During the summer of 2021, the existing corrugated metal showed signs of failure. The county responded to the failure with a temporary fix and installed a steel plate over the roadway.
Project Scope:
The project includes replacement of the existing corrugated metal pipe with a reinforced concrete box culvert. The installed concrete box culvert will have Redi-Rock wingwalls. The project also includes installing riprap areas on the upstream and downstream sides of the culvert for erosion protection.
Project Schedule:
Construction for this project will begin near the end of October and is planned to be completed by the end of the year.
Project Impact on Traffic:
For the duration of the project, there will be period when JC-73 will be reduced to single travel lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The project will also include a number of full night closures. The night closures will be posted with message boards prior to closures, and a detour along N. Turkey Creek Road and US-285 route will be signed.

JC-73 will be closed to traffic north of Flying J Park on Tuesday, November 2 and Wednesday, November 3 between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. as crews replace a culvert.
Traffic will be detoured to N. Turkey Creek Road and US-285. Signaled single-lane traffic through the site will resume at 6:00 a.m. on both days.
