Clear Creek County is working an active wildland fire called the Miner's Candle Fire. Current evacuation areas are Miners Candle, Trail Creek, and Sunny Side. Evacuees can go to the Clear Creek District building at 320 Hwy 103 (old middle school).

#MinersCandleFire 2:12 PM update: per Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office:
Winds have subsided, and the fire is burning less actively. Evacuation for the immediate areas is still in place. We have 35 wildland firefighters currently working the fire. It is zero % contained.

The previously alerted wildland fire in the Miners Candle area is currently at 50% containment. Evacuation orders for areas of Trail Creek Road, Miners Candle, Lamertine Road, and Sunny Skies Trail remain in place. There will be a briefing for the public tomorrow, Monday, December sixth at ten thirty am at Fire Station 2 in Idaho Springs, 2000 Colorado Boulevard. This will be the last status update for Sunday unless something significant changes. Please do not call Dispatch unless you have an emergency.

#MinersCandleFire Clear Creek County Sheriff and Clear Creek Fire Authority Assistant Fire Chief say the goal is full containment by Wednesday (12/7) at 1700 hours (5:00 PM).
Evacuation orders will be lifted at 11:00 AM today.

#MinersCandleFire Update: At 15 acres; 50% contained. 2 structures and 4 outbuildings destroyed. Started as house fire, is under investigation. Today: 45-50 degrees, winds 15-30 mph. Smoke and flames visible through tomorrow. Sheriff is lifting all evacuations at 11:00 AM today.
